Hillary Clinton speaks out for women’s rights at the Women in the World Summit
Hillary Clinton addressed women’s rights recently at the 3rd Annual Women in the World Summit this March, hosted at the Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater in New York City.
Speaking on what it means to be a woman in the world today, Clinton stated:
“It means never giving up: on yourself, your potential, your future. It means getting up, working hard, and putting a country or a community on your back.”
She went on to warn the crowd that “extremists” are out to control women:
” Why extremists always focus on women remains a mystery to me. But they all seem to. It doesn’t matter what country they’re in or what religion they claim. They want to control women. They want to control how we dress, they want to control how we act, they even want to control the decisions we make about our own health and bodies.
Yes, it is hard to believe but even here at home we have to stand up for women’s rights and reject efforts to marginalize any one of us because America needs to set an example for the entire world.”
