Taylor Ferrera sings Poll Tax

Taylor FerreraInternet sensation Taylor Ferrera hit cyberspace yesterday with her latest song, Poll Tax.  You might remember Taylor from her other well-known hits such as Legitimate Rape that took the internet by storm after Rep. Todd Akin of Missouri, the Republican candidate for the Missouri Senate race, told a St. Louis news station on Sunday that “legitimate rape” rarely causes pregnancy: “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

Her other hits include memorable songs such as Cold War Time Warp, Businesses Are People, Too!, and When Love Fizzles Out.

Please stop by her website and her Taylor Ferrera Musica Facebook page and show your support.  We would consider it a personal favor if you would like her page.

Lyrics:

Don’t know why people are up in arms
I guess Voter suppression is lacking in charm
So you need an ID
Well the 13 bucks you paid for it’s your price to be free

You might think these new laws are pretty tough
But I don’t think we’re going quite far enough

We need a poll tax! poll tax!
So folks appreciate their right to vote
we need a poll tax! poll tax!
Personal responsibility we want to promote.

You should have to prove that you can write and read
And to prove you are a land owner you must show your deed

And pay a poll tax! poll tax!
To ensure only Republicans are able to vote – I mean – I didn’t…what…

Before you yell “Jim Crow”
And say that many voters will no longer go
I think it’s only fair
So before you go to vote you should prepare

To vote we’ll need a sample of your urine and your stool
And if you vote like us we’ll give you 40 acres and a mule

And pay your poll tax! poll tax!
Because voting simply isn’t your right
We need a poll tax! poll tax!
Especially if you’re a student or if you’re not white.

You’ll need at least 5 years of tax returns to vote for the president
Unless you are a person who is running for president

poll tax! Poll tax!
So only 53% of people can vote – I mean…no, I didn’t…you misunderstood…I didn’t say that very eloquently.

It’ll be fair – cause face the facts
Rich Republicans aren’t used to being taxed

Let’s get a poll tax! Poll tax!
To renew our electoral soul
we need to slap a tax upon that poll
