The Cost of the Election: What did it actually buy?

Now that the election is over we can start looking at the price tag and what exactly donors were able to purchase with their hard earned millions and billions.

So………. what happened exactly. Let me see:

Barack Obama is still President of the United States of America;
Democrats still control the Senate, although they picked up a couple more seats (more or less);
Republicans still control the House picking up a slight few seats (maybe 2-3, we will see when final numbers are tabulated);
Of the 11 governor races only one resulted in a change of party.

Hmmmmmmmm, so what exactly was accomplished???
