I know it’s just a TV show, but this quote struck me as sensible. From Battlestar Galactica, Commander Adama says, “There’s a reason you separate the military & the police. One fights the enemy of the state, the other serves & protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people.” Of course, in this case it’s kind of reverse process of the police becoming the military, but you get the idea.
