Carolla is not yelling about legitimate rape or suggesting masturbating is a sin like some of the whack-jobs in the Tea Party, but his suggestion makes no sense in the real world and it goes against the anti-abortion, anti-Planned Parenthood obsession the right is so consumed with now. This is a destructive and sexist message no matter what Carolla’s political affiliation is.
Adam, you live in that impenetrable bubble and you make sweeping statements about the entire population and how things “should be.” By barking out these idiotic statements, your implication is that women should keep their legs closed if they can’t afford children, right? That plays right into Rush Limbaugh’s successful lie that women just want the government to pay for our birth control and that we are sluts.
If you believe for one second that impoverished people are going to stop having sex, you’ve got your head lodged so far up your hindquarters, I doubt there is any real hope you will ever see things as they really are. Of course, men, whether they are rich or poor, are excused, because they are just men, right? They get erections that need to be satisfied. It’s the women who are supposed to deny the men sex because they can’t afford a child. No one is telling men to keep it zipped up. It’s not men who are “shitting out” children.
If a poor woman, married or not, gets pregnant because the condom broke or because she was raped or for any other reason that is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, and she chooses to terminate the pregnancy legally, right-wing conservatives call her a baby killer. If she or her mate have a child they can’t afford and are unable to find jobs that pay them adequately and must depend on welfare to make up the difference, conservatives call them lazy “takers.” You mentioned your mother was on welfare. Was she a lazy taker? There’s just no winning with you, is there?
Republicans are hell-bent on making birth control harder to acquire. They are determined to remove access to LEGAL abortions. The right wants to take away choice and they SCREAM that they don’t want to PAY for anyone’s birth control—even though most birth control is on private insurance plans and tax dollars are NOT paying for it. They refuse to acknowledge that by making birth control harder to acquire and then making it difficult or impossible to have an abortion, the unplanned, unwanted children, who are the result of the lack of options, are then the responsibility of the taxpayer. Once those children are here, conservatives squeal like stuck pigs because they don’t want their tax dollars to be spent making certain the children have food, clothing, shelter and adequate health care. Love the fetus, deny the human.
You’re sure fond of saying what people should and shouldn’t do. You make the claim that it’s not responsible to have children if you have a minimum wage job. I have a suggestion for you Adam. Visit Mississippi and lecture all of the women who have no access to clinics that offer affordable health care thanks to Republican legislators. You go tell them to their faces to be responsible and go get a high paying job in this economy.
Adam, it’s a nice fantasy to believe that everyone starts out in a crappy, low-paying job and then moves up to the corner office with a view of the city and a tidy pension. Yes, some do achieve this, but have you ever seen the chart illustrating how average American workers’ wages have declined while corporate profits are going through the roof? This translates into corporations keeping the majority of the profits and not compensating their employees with a living wage. These employers rely on welfare programs to make up the difference and ask you, the taxpayer, to pick up the bill they are too greedy to pay. Your “should be” scenarios are smashed into bits when you take a look at what is.
Your moronic advice to stop shitting out children people can’t afford is a prime example of the knuckle-dragging mentality that lost the election for you and your kind in ’08 and ‘12.
And by the way, I suggest you take a biology or physiology class because women don’t, as you so eloquently put it, “shit out” children. They come from a different part of a woman’s anatomy.
