Action movie star Steven Seagal teamed up with Maricopa County “Sheriff Joe” Arpaio and his armed “volunteer posse” for a simulated school shooting.
Sheriff Joe has deployed his 3,450 member posse to begin patrolling Phoenix area schools beginning in January of this year and plan to continue the program indefinitely according to his office.
Seagal took part in the exercise last Saturday at a vacant school outside Phoenix. Pounding a podium, Sheriff Joe told reporters:
“I want everybody to know that we’re going to be around those schools, that if you do something we will be armed, and we’re going into the schools to save our kids.”
Interestingly, according to a local CBS affiliate, many of Sheriff Joe’s posse member have criminal records. Their investigative report ”uncovered a number of posse members with arrests for assault, drug possession, domestic violence, sex crimes against children, disorderly conduct, impersonating an officer – and the list goes on.”
