California Police Take Baby from Parents After Improper Hospital Discharge (VIDEO)

Police take babyPolice were called when parents took their child from a Sacramento hospital without a proper discharge to receive a second medical opinion.

The parents were told their 5 month old son needed surgery after being admitted to the hospital for having flu-like symptoms.  The parents, Anna and Alex Nikolayev, decided they wanted a second opinion and left the hospital without being properly discharged after doctors at Sutter Memorial allegedly argued against consulting other health experts and after a nurse administered medicine to the baby but when the Nikolayevs asked what it was, the allegedly replied: “I don’t know.”

“I’m like, you’re working as a nurse, and you don’t even know what to give to my baby…?” Anna said in an interview with ABC’s local affiliate, News10/KXTV.

After leaving the hospital with their son, Sammy, the Nikolayevs took him straight to Kaiser Permanente Hospital where Sammy was evaluated and released back to his parents, with one doctor annotating in the paperwork: “I do not have concern for the safety of the child at home with his parents.”

However, as they were leaving, police arrived at the hospital to investigate at the request of Sutter Memorial, but allowed the couple to leave, apparently satisfied with the doctors’ evaluation there.

However, the next day police arrived with representatives and took the child from the home, refusing to even tell the parents where the baby was being taken.

Anna set up a camera in the house to capture the events after seeing her husband being forced to the ground outside the home.

On Monday, Child Protective Services withdrew their request to take custody of the baby meaning the Nikolayevs can have normal relations with their baby and can make all medical decisions, but the court ordered them to allow CPS officials to monitor the case and the parents were ordered to comply with future medical instructions.

The video below shows police letting themselves in without a warrant and taking baby. “I’m going to grab your baby, and don’t resist, and don’t fight me okay?” one officer can be heard telling the mother.
