U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) sparred over a line of questioning regarding the handling of Boston bombing suspect Tamerian Txarnaev yesterday.
In response to leading questions from Gohmert about whether the FBI failed to question Tsarnaev in a “thorough enough” manner, Holder responded stating:
“You’ve made statements as matters of fact -“
To which Gohmert stated back: “You point out one thing I said that was not true,” before being told by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) that his time had expired. Gohmert argued asking for a point of personal privilege. The questioning quickly degraded after that as you can see below. Of note, as Gohmert continued trying to talk, several other members of the committee disputed the idea that his contention was in fact a point of personal privilege.
At one point Gohmert became so flustered he blurted out “the attorney general will not cast aspersions on my asparagus.”
