During Thursday night’s interview, Anderson Cooper discusses the Marissa Alexander case with her attorneys and their opposition. Alexander is serving 20 years for firing a warning shot to defend herself against a violently abusive husband. The consensus seems to be, ‘Get her out of jail now – We can argue about it later.’ Angela Corey, the prosecuting attorney for the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case, was also the prosecuting attorney for Marissa Alexander’s case. Corey is now finding herself in the spotlight and under fire for both cases.

Hundreds of thousands are joining this cause.Thankfully, now with mainstream and social media, we will see this through, while exposing other injustices taking place in courtrooms, around the country, against battered/abused women. The discussion needs to continue until solutions are found and changes are made. We need to do this for Marissa Alexander, for all battered women, and for American democracy.

The 2 minute clip is very disturbing to some, so there is a ‘trigger warning’. For more stories about Marissa Alexander, type her name in the Liberals Unite upper right search box. If you are being abused, or know someone in an abusive situation, please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE.
