The title gives it all away, doesn’t it? Apparently in Texas, home of the WTF anti-choice bills, women are rethinking some of their strategies. After watching the GOP crank out their ‘pro-life’ bullshit again and again, when we know, most of these guys don’t give a flip about a fetus or any life but their own, a new movement may be coming down the line.
If certain men are going to continue to introduce anti-women laws, well then, it looks like certain women are going to introduce anti-sex laws in the bedroom. That’s right. Time for those Texas GOP boys to buy some girly magazines, grab the lotion and have at it, cause they ain’t gonna have it with Texas women – not until those they straighten up and learn to respect their gals’ reproductive rights.
This tactic apparently has worked in other countries claims, Vivan Norris, in her delightful Huffington Post blog:
In Kenya, when violence broke out after political elections a few years back, the women in Kenya stopped having sex with the men until the violence ended. Guess what? The men quit fighting one another.
Norris, a Texan, gives advice to other Texas women:
Don’t give in if your man, boyfriend, husband, toyboy is not voting for your best interests, your reproductive health — do not sleep with that man! I don’t care how cute or charming he is! I don’t care if he is your husband of many years. Resist! Go swimming! Meditate!
Do not make him dinner, do not go fetch him a cold beer from the fridge, do not iron that shirt, hell, do not change that diaper… do not make his life a little nicer this summer if he does not “get it” and learn to respect women! Instead, volunteer some time for senators like Wendy Davis, go with a group of women to Austin and make your voices heard. Get on the computer and the social networks and organize.
And beware of those men who claim to be on your side, Norris says:
Oh, and before you fall for that guy who seems to be a pro-women’s choice Democrat, and spend the summer with him, step back and take a real look at the man. Do his words meet his actions? Does he say one thing with you, but with the boys does he become yet another good ole boy? Does he truly respect women, not just his Mama?
But hey, why should Texas women have all the fun? How about we open up this party to other states. How about North Carolina, Wisconsin, Iowa, Florida… heck let’s just open it up to the entire country.
And for that matter, if you’re a gay man in relationship with a Republican lawmaker, (I know it sounds ridiculous, but gay Republican lawmakers do exist) you can jump in on this too. If your man is messing with lgbt rights, you hold out until he straightens up. You know what I mean.
Women (and gay men), go forth and conquer! Win this war, in the name of all that is holy in the biblical sense, and in common sense. You need no guns, no swords, no arrows, no harsh words… You only need your ‘essence’…
