Ted Cruz Blames Gay People For Ruining America – OP/ED (VIDEO)

UPDATE, June 28, 2015: This clip of Ted Cruz from 2013 provides ample proof of the importance of last week’s SCOTUS decision insuring marriage equality for all Americans.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz is worried about the future of America because of gay people. Well OF COURSE he is. He’s a Texas Republican! When he isn’t busy trying to control vaginas and uteruses, he gets his briefs in a bunch over  – THE GAYS!

In the video below, he uses his “look at how gentle and sincere I am face” to complain and blame homosexuals for ruining EVERYTHING!

Oh, Ted. Gimme a break!

I’d like to take this opportunity to remind folks of my gay cousin, Barbara. Last year, while attending her mother’s funeral, Fr. Marcel Guarnizo denied her communion and walked out in the middle of the service. Needless to say, Barbara was crushed. It just so happened that my mother, Ann Werner, broke the story and it spread far and wide. Within days, Barbara was on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell and appeared on various other news programs. Every major news site picked the story up. It became a global story.

Anyone who watched Barbara or read her words, found a gentle and compassionate woman who was eloquent and heartbroken. This priest had seen Barbara’s female partner at the service and decided that she wasn’t worth his time. After he denied her communion in front of our entire family, he said he had a headache and walked out. He accused Barbara’s partner of being rude and made other untrue statements in an effort to defend his heinous behavior. I would like to add that I was not at the funeral but I know Barbara and her partner. I have spoken to family members who were in attendance, including my father, my aunt and various other relatives. The priest lied. And if you think about it for a nanosecond, why would Barbara’s partner of many years be rude to the priest? Barbara’s parents eventually accepted her sexual orientation and embraced and loved them as a couple.

It will come as no surprise that Fr. Guarnizo is an anti-abortion activist. In this video, you can see him proclaiming, “The most dangerous place in the world today is in the womb of a mother. More violent deaths take place there than any other place in the world.” What a lovely guy!

In the end, he was asked to leave the parish, not because of what he did to my cousin, but he was “placed on administrative leave with his priestly faculties removed” because of his “intimidating behavior toward parish staff and others.”

I would like to note that my cousin is a Catholic and the horrible experience she went through did not cause her to leave Catholicism. She briefly questioned it, but refused to allow one very rude and hateful priest to dictate how she chooses and prefers to live her own PERSONAL life.

So, Ted Cruz of Texas, your effort to use a soft-spoken voice to shame a group of human beings who are just trying to live and be happy is pathetic and embarrassing. If you haven’t noticed, we are living in the 21st century and this country is moving in a progressive direction at a swift pace. Unfortunately, we still have to deal with the likes of you and your kind.

GOP legislators are OBSESSED with control. One would assume that as the public constantly points out their bigotry and closed-minded views, they would get a clue and shut up. But maybe God is really on our side because they just keep showing their true agenda – to use their political power to enforce religious law.  They scream about small government. How can it be small government when it’s all up in our innards and in our bedrooms?  2014 will lead to more progressives in office. Progressives probably won’t sweep the House and Senate but it’s a safe bet that we will see an increase of Democrats unless Republicans learn to accept people for who they are and remember why this country was founded in the first place.

Take a look in the mirror Ted. Those who shake their little fingers in the name of purity are often found to be the most perverted. Just sayin’.
