We have seen state after state pass bills forcing doctors, who don’t believe it is medically necessary, to insert a transvaginal ultrasound probe into a woman’s vagina when she is seeking an abortion.
The patient does NOT want the probe. The doctor says it is not medically necessary. The government doesn’t care what either of them want. So the government legalizes and mandates rape.
Oh, that sounds so awful….when it’s in print like that, it reads as extreme. But take a look at how the FBI defines rape.
The anti-abortion bills are created by Tea Party extremists and are meant to psychologically torture, shame and manipulate women. They disguise and dress it up as faux concern. It is a blatant attack and a punishment on women.
In an article written by Robin Swirling for RH Reality Check, Robin describes her experience of the probe:
“That particular trans-vaginal ultrasound was extremely painful too, and not because I was regretting my decision or didn’t want to see the fetus on the screen or hear it described. It just physically hurt. I knew exactly what I was doing; the procedure had been described to me by the nurse, by written materials I was forced to read, and by information I was forced to listen to 24 hours before the procedure. And while some women may regret their decision, and some may have had a tremendously difficult time reaching the decision to be there, every single one of them knows what an abortion is and what it does. That’s why she’s there, and she doesn’t need a hard piece of plastic pressed against her cervix and a visual reminder that she’s pregnant to shame her into keeping a child for which she is unprepared.”
Here’s some irony, Sarah Silverman tweeted:
Her tweet was retweeted by Colorado State Representative Joe Salazar. The Colorado Republican Party completely freaked out at the mere mention of probing a man AS A JOKE and wrote a press release, which reads in part:
“It’s fine to disagree with Gov. Walker, but it’s not okay for Joe Salazar to call for the governor to be raped,” Owen Loftus, Colorado Republican Committee spokesman, stated. “Rep. Salazar’s tweet is demeaning and offensive to victims everywhere.”
Evidently Colorado Republicans haven’t been caught up on how the FBI defines rape or if they have, they choose to turn a blind eye. They do this with a straight face while they rail against “big government” and the intrusion into our private lives. It is the height of hypocrisy.
Women who identify as liberals or Democrats or in favor of choice are constantly and wrongfully painted as “baby-killing whores” or “hoebags” or “sluts.” This is result of the 2010 midterm elections. Democrats stayed home. Now, unless we keep an aspirin between our legs, we risk getting raped by our doctors.
When the doctor doesn’t believe it is necessary to force a woman to have a probe stuck into their vagina and the government forces it, it is RAPE!
