The Top Five Most In-Demand Jobs

Competition for jobs is high in general, but a senior data scientist with Bright.com compiled a list of  five of the most in-demand jobs in the United States.

The list below was compiled by Bright.com by going through over 70 million job postings in the United States.  For the record, Boston scored the highest for those seeking employment with Miami coming in last place.

5. General and Operations Managers: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are some 2 million jobs in this category with a mean annual wage of $114,850 in the year 2012, with median operations managers making $45.88 per hour.

4. Occupational Therapists: There is slightly over 100K occupational therapists employed in the United States, but the field is seen as an up-and-coming one.  Median wages are an “above-average wage of $36.25 per hour.

3. Software Developers, Systems Software: There are currently 400K software developers employed in the United States with a median annual wage of $99,000 and  a median hourly wage of $47.59.

2. Accountants and Auditors: There are more than 1 million jobs in this category with a median annual wage of $63,550 and a median hourly wage of 30.55.

1. Laborers and Freight, Stock, and Material Movers, Hand: There are more than 2 million workers in this category with a median annual wage of a mere $23,980/
