U.S. Considering Killing An American Terror Suspect

The Associated Press is reporting this morning that the Obama administration is considering launching a drone attack to execute a United States citizen suspected of working with al-Qaida, actively planning attacks on Americans located overseas.

“Four U.S. officials said the American suspected terrorist is in a country that refuses U.S. military action on its soil and that has proved unable to go after him. And President Barack Obama’s new policy says American suspected terrorists overseas can only be killed by the military, not the CIA.”

Two officials are are the describing the suspect as an “al-Qaida facilitator” who is directly responsible for numerous deadly attacks against U.S. citizens abroad, but one official is saying that the Department of Defense is divided over whether or not his actions meet the required threshold which would allow him to be executed without charging him with a crime or trying him.

The suspect is currently being monitored by CIA drones, but they cannot order a strike until the Justice Department builds a case against him and renders a decision.
