On March 16, the West Virginia public affairs show “The State Journal’s Decision Makers” aired a disagreement between Senate Majority Leader John Unger and Charleston Mayor Danny Jones.

Gun control advocate and Mayors Against Illegal Guns Member, Danny Jones,  debated WV Senate Majority Leader John Unger on the issue of state-wide preemption but Mayor Jones’ position quickly deteriorates to screaming and name calling.

As reported by WTRF  “the legislation in question, Senate Bill 317, attempts to create uniform gun laws throughout the Mountain State” and the “measure overwhelmingly passed the West Virginia Senate unanimously then cleared the West Virginia House of Delegates 92-5, before being sent to the governor for his signature.”

Highlights of the discussion include:

06:21 Danny Jones: “What do you [know], you’re a State Senator!”
07:05 Bray Cary: “I can’t believe I’m defending this bill.”
07:50 Danny Jones “I can read too. We have lawyers interpreting this bill and not some knucklehead up at the Legislature.” [as he looks to Senator Unger]
This episode of the Decision Makers originally aired on Sunday March 16th, 2014.
