Ted Cruz Gets Ripped On Facebook About Obamacare

Ted-Talks

Tea Party favorite Ted Cruz posted an informal poll on his verified Facebook page asking people whether they were better off since Obamacare was signed into law four years ago and the responses are an overwhelming, and at times amusing, YES.

His post states: “Quick poll: Obamacare was signed into law four years ago yesterday. Are you better off now than you were then? Comment with YES or NO!”

So far the over 52,000 responses are positive and as a personal side note, I was proud to find that out of the latest twelve posts – nine of them were friends of mine to include the always insightful Karen Teegarden, the founder of UniteWomen.org – one of the most active groups on Facebook advocating women’s rights. Senator Ted Cruz: Thanks for asking. In a nutshell, my answer is a resounding “Yes.” I should think however, a better posed question is this: Four years ago, the Tea Party “Patriots” were swept into power during a mid-term election. Quick poll: Are we as Americans better off now than before those Tea Party “Patriots” were elected? NO!

Yes, I am so grateful to have insurance coverage after ten years of no coverage. It’s impossible for anyone to truly know what it’s like to live without health insurance unless it happens to them. My insurance dropped me when I was divorced saying it was because I was the ‘the wife’. I probably could have sued but didn’t think of it and was too worried about finding another insurer. The problem was, due to my preexisting conditions of cancerous cells found leading to one lumpectomy, 4 biopsies and 2 leap procedures, I found myself, a single mom, uninsurable – by anyone. I can say I almost died not seeking medical attention for fear the medical bills would cost me my house, the one thing I had left after losing my job and paying a fortune out of pocket for medications. My story is nothing compared to the horrors of others. And I am alive to tell it. Many are not. Thank you for asking the people. And I thank God for Obama’s healthcare reform.

What? Are you nuts? YES INDEED! Let’s see… I can now afford to have my female parts examined without being charged for a pre-existing condition by being female, I can afford insurance now, I got mine in a matter of 2 weeks with no trouble on the main site, I am healthy so all this bull crap about people sucking money from the system is ridiculous (I PAY in to the system and I am healthy! What a concept), I am finally able to have peace of mind knowing if I am hit by a bus, I will not lose everything I own, and finally, I am able to support myself with the lower costs with certain peace of mind. YES.. I AM BETTER OFF. Expressly.

And my good friends Mary Mathieu, Brian Harris and Lee Tax Carbon Diamond were more directly responding with a simple, yet eloquent “YES. “
