Supporters, near and far, are rallying behind Cassidy Stay, the 15-year-old survivor of the Texas family shooting, through a GoFundMe site in her name.

Cassidy Stay not only survived the incidentthat took her parents, Stephen and Katie Stay, and four younger siblings,  but heroically called 911, giving details to first-responders that lead to saving the lives of her grandparents. Her heroic call also aided the police capture of the suspect.

Donations are pouring into the GoFundMe campaign from all over the country. Titled “Stay Family Tragedy – Cassidy Stay Fund,” as of Tuesday evening, the fund has raised over $330,000 of the goal of $375,000, taking in donations from over 6,000 individuals.

The donations range from $5 t0 one anonymous donation of $10,000.

“What a brave girl with a great personality…so sorry that she is going to grow up without her parents and family members…pray that God will give her the guidance she needs!! ” writes one donor, with another one writing: “CASSIDY, I spent 26 years in the US ARMY and I’m a decorated combat veteran, BUT…I’ve never seen or met a braver person in my life!!!! May GOD continue to bless you and allow HEAVEN to always shine down on you. Best of luck in all your future endeavors. “

The campaign states, in part:

6 of the 7 family members of the Stay Family were taken from our community in a horrific and violent tragedy on July 9th, 2014.

Stephen & Katie Stay along with 4 of their 5 children were lost in a horrible domestic violence event that left only their 15 year old daughter (Cassidy Stay) the sole survivor of her family. Cassidy is expected to make a full recovery and has been released from the hospital.

Cassidy not only survived the incident, but heroically after the incident was able to call 911, then give details to 1st reponders that lead to saving the lives of her grandparents and police capturing the suspect minutes later.

Employee’s Harris County Water Control & Improvement District (Harris County WCID110) Parks & Recreation along with First Responders and many of our community have expressed a concern for Cassidy and the family. Cassidy will no doubt need major financial support in the future without her imediate family. (although we do not yet have all the details due to the ongoing investigation).

FROM THE CHURCH:
“As you pray for the Stay family and their loved ones, please bind yourselves to act to assist them as you feel impressed by the spirit.  Cassidy and her family have significant trials and expenses ahead of them.  Please be aware that the family has established a trust fund for Cassidy and her family and donations can be made at www.stayfamilyfund.org.  This is the donation fund that the family wishes us to use and 100% of the funds donated via this website go to the trust account.  They are very grateful for funds donated via the GoFundMe online site and that site will remain available and those funds will be transferred to the trust fund.
