Flyers promoting a “Straight White Guy Festival” are appearing at an Ohio park usually used for gay-pride events such as the town’s annual Gay Pride Parade.
According to the flyers, the festival will take place in September in Goodale Park, located in Clintonville.

According to WBNS-10TV, “In a community where the push for equality is on full display, not everyone appreciates the message.”
According to Michael Premo who heads an organization promoting same-sex marrige, the flyer is an unwelcome distraction:
“This kind of thing implies there’s some kind of struggle going on for being a straight white person in Ohio. Straight white people are doing just fine. I think it detracts from the real problems of Ohio that need to be solved, that are being denied their constitutional rights because of who they are, or who the love. And that’s what we really need to work on and this is just kind of a distraction.”
While it is unclear whether the event will really take place, WBNS was able to confirm with city officials that there has not been any request for a permit so far.
