Don Pardo, Legendary SNL Announcer, Dies at 96 (VIDEO)

Willliams-Pardo

Brian Williams remembers NBC colleague Don Pardo, the voice of Saturday Night Live for decades.

As NBC reports, “Few would recognize his face, but most would know his voice: that booming baritone that for nearly four decades would introduce the lineups on ‘Saturday Night Live.'”

Don Pardo, the durable television and radio announcer whose resonant voice-over style was widely imitated and became the standard in the field, died Monday in Arizona at the age of 96.

The New York Times adds:

While not many people knew his face, practically every American knew his voice for more than half a century. Mr. Pardo was with “SNL” for 38 seasons, beginning with its first episode, in October 1975, missing only Season 7, and for many years he had been the announcer on the widely watched game shows “The Price Is Right” and “Jeopardy!”

Saturday Night Live posted a remembrance photo and link to the New York Times tribute on their Facebook page:
