As Maddow pointed out, there have been 82 attorneys general, and the most hated were Janet Reno, a woman, and Eric Holder, a black man. The hatred from the right aimed at these two very intelligent and capable AGs is frenzied and often confusing.
Take for example the conversation between Holder and an angry Rep. Louie Gohmert, (R-Texas). Gohmert was so excitable and upset he warned Holder not to “cast aspersions on my asparagus.”
A year later, and after being grilled by Gohmert at a House Judiciary Committee hearing, Holder told Gohmert “Good luck with your asparagus.”
