Attendees of a Colorado fundraiser for Rep. Scott Tipton (R) are reporting that Republican Speaker John Boehner called presidential hopeful Ted Cruz a “jackass.”
According to The Daily Caller, two attendees reported that Boehner said that he was glad that the 2016 presidential race kept “that jackass” out of Washington and away from telling him how to do his j0b.
One of the attendees, Ed MacArthur, the president of Native Excavating, told The Daily Caller: “I don’t think it’s terribly speaker-like, and I think it kind of goes against everything that Reagan ever said about disparaging Republicans,” adding that “It’s becoming very disturbing to me that we can’t have good, polite conversation. It all has to be at the throat.”
As Talking Points Memo reported, “Cruz has long had a reputation for being a thorn in Boehner’s side, having led a government shutdown over Obamacare for 2013 and publicly causing leadership headaches on various occasions.”
Talking Points Memo and The Daily caller both reached out to Speaker Boehner’s office for a comment, but at the time of publication had not heard back.
