Powerful Message To Responsible Firearm Owners From A Self-Described Gun Lover (Video)

Handgun-Owner

Self-described “responsible firearms owner” Mark Carman posted a video message to other “responsible firearms owners” on his Facebook page along with a link to the ATF’s website with information regarding “What recordkeeping procedures should be followed when two unlicensed individuals want to engage in a firearms transaction?”

The clip begins with Carman holding a handgun up to the camera, asking: “Do you know what this is?”

He continues, explaining that it’s a “semi-automatic handgun” and how easy it is to purchase it from him:

That’s a semi-automatic handgun. And I own it. And I like it. You could own one too. In fact you could own this very one. All you’d have to do is come over to my house with the right money and I could just hand it to you standing on my front porch.

I don’t have to do a background check. You don’t have to fill out a form. We don’t have to sign any papers. All you got to do is decide you want it, bring the money, and legally I can sell it to you.

Then he makes the point that many purchasers lack basic knowledge about their purchase of a handgun:

But take a look at it. Is that firearm safe? Would you know how to make it safe? How many people do you think would know how?

Carman then proceeds to remove the ammunition clip and opens the gun, making sure there is nothing in the chamber and continues his narrative:

How much different does it look from what it looked like a minute ago?

Folks we got a problem. I love firearms, I do. I’m trained in their use. I’m skilled in their use. I’m trained in safety. And I’m a responsible firearms owner. But this message is to responsible firearm owners.

The rest of the clip is a rather detailed conversation about the need to come to the conclusion that guns need to be taken away from people who shouldn’t have them and that the laws should be changed so that no one can sell a firearm without a background check.
