Texas: Home Of Pro-Life Republican Hypocrites Who Love The Death Penalty

If you’re looking for Republican hypocrisy on religion, abortion, and obsession with the sexual habits of women, look no further than the big red state of Texas.

Up until a few years ago, female genitalia were not regularly discussed on television by a lot of old, Republican men. Now it seems, they can’t shut up about it. From abortion rights to birth control, Bible-thumping Republicans are obsessed with writing laws to control what a woman can and cannot do with her body. In the ‘Land of the free,’ the last place the old men of the GOP belong is the bedroom.

Yet that hasn’t stopped them from using their red state majorities to force their so-called Christian values on American women. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the deep red state of Texas. This right-to-life bastion is also America’s leader in death penalty executions with a whopping 537 from 2010 to 2016. Just to put that in perspective, Oklahoma came in second with a mere 112.

When Texas Republicans are not busy executing people, they’re hard at work shutting down abortion clinics so ‘immoral’ women can’t terminate a life prior to it being sent to death row.

However, in June, the Supreme Court decided there was a problem with Texas restricting access to legal abortions via unconstitutional legislation.

As CNN reported:

Justice Breyer wrote that despite arguments that the restrictions were designed to protect women’s health, the reality is that they merely amounted to burdening women who seek abortions.

If Republicans really were concerned about limiting abortions, one would think they’d be handing out birth control pills on every corner. But they are against that, too.

With an agenda focused on blocking access to birth control AND abortion, it seems that Republicans just don’t want anyone to have sex. In a purely biological sense, that would be the only other way to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. But it’s hard to sell celibacy to an electorate that probably has more porn on their computers than they’re willing to admit.

That leaves the alleged Jesus-loving old men of the Republican Party with a conundrum. Keep using fanatical religious doctrine as a fundraising tool, while continuing to have adulterous sex with staff members? Or give up their obsession with controlling the bodies of American women they’ve never met? My money is on the former. No Bible-thumping politician is likely to give up money and sex.
