My Patriot Supply is the darling of a lot of right wing types. Are they hoping to supply the anti-Hillary revolution when Trump loses?
While watching television the other night, an ad from My Patriot Supply appeared on my screen.
As you can see, it opens with scenes of disaster and goes on to offer three days worth of their dried emergency food packets for the low, low, special price of $10. Then it veers off to show families camping out and dining on the delicious dried meals that only require water and heat. But I don’t think that’s the real message.
Now, I may be wrong (it wouldn’t be the first time), but in light of recent events, this may be a message to die-hard Trump supporters to get ready for the revolution. Case in point: A women at a rally where vice presidential candidate Mike Pence was presiding said, “I don’t want this to happen but I will tell you personally if Hillary Clinton gets in, I myself, I’m ready for a revolution because we can’t have her in.”
I don’t think she was talking about a political revolution a la Bernie Sanders.
There are some really crazy people in the Trump camp, and they are armed to the teeth. Meanwhile, Trump, who somewhere in his lizard brain knows he is going to lose, is bellowing about how the election is in the process of being stolen. I’d say that’s an incitement to violence, which is nothing new at a Trump rally. Only now, with the election just weeks away and early voting already started, he’s ratcheting up the rhetoric and inflaming a swath of people who are uninformed, misinformed and angry.
I don’t know what they think they’re going to do. Are they fantasizing about storming city halls across the country, guns blazing? Do they plan to launch an assault on the White House? Or are they just going to look for cars with Hillary bumper stickers and shoot out the tires or worse? I have no idea what goes on in the fevered minds of Trump supporters, but I do know it’s ugly.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen an ad for survivalist food run in prime time on television. Maybe they’ve run ads on Fox. I know Glenn Beck is a fan and My Patriot Supply gets some love on his show. However, in today’s toxic political climate, I found the ad to be deeply disturbing.
