Jon Stewart did a stand-up routine of sorts called “The Day I Woke Up to Find Out Somebody Was Tweeting Weird Shit About Me” at the Nov. 1, 2016 Stand Up For Heroes benefit (which was held in partnership with the Bob Woodruff Foundation), and it makes things perfectly clear why Trump’s Twitter account will probably be “handled” by someone else after January 20.
Stewart talked about the time he woke up to some strange Tweets that had no reason to be coming his way — from Donald Trump, no less, the first of which said:
“I promise you, I’m much smarter than Jonathan Leibowitz, I mean Jon Stewart, who by the way is totally overrated.”
And the Tweets continue, with things from Trump about him being “overrated,” and “phony,” and that he should “be proud of his heritage” — again referring to his “real” name and ethnic background. Once again, the Trump racist dog whistle was blowing loudly.
Stewart finally responds, and it’s actually quite hilarious, but also, this is a great indicator of Trump’s mental state when he starts sending Tweets at 2:00 a.m.
