Helen Mirren says out loud what has been on everyone’s mind as 2016 comes to a close.
Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren presented an alternative Christmas message during an appearance on BBC’s The Graham Norton Show.
Mirren was appearing on the show with actor Will Smith to plug their latest movie, Collateral Beauty, which was released in the U.S. last week.
Asked by host Graham Norton if she could present a Christmas message as she is the “nearest thing to royalty.”
“Hello,” she said, adopting a regal tone. “At this time of celebration and togetherness, we have the chance to reflect on the year gone by. And I think we can all agree that 2016 has been a big pile of shit.”
She continued, adding: So my advice to you is drink responsibly, and be merry. Have a very Happy Christmas. But above all, go see Collateral Beauty, out on Boxing Day. It’s in all good cinemas.”
She then declared: “and that’s Helen out” as she dramatically dropped her microphone.
