America is well known for its fascination with trinkets.
We’re inundated with commemorative plates, coins and chia pets. Someone must be buying them, because they run nearly non-stop at all hours of the day.
Trump’s biggest fans, the Russians, seem to be getting in on the action by unveiling a commemorative coin featuring Trump’s likeness, available in both silver and gold.
The limited edition (only 45 made so far) feature a Trump profile, the Statue of Liberty and the inscription, “In Trump We Trust.”
According to the Associated Press:
All but five of the commemorative coins will be cast in silver, with the others in gold. They measure almost five inches in diameter and weigh about two pounds each, similar to coins made by the company featuring Putin and other notable Russians.
The director of the metal works company Art-Grani, Vladimir Vasyukhin, unveiled the two-pound coin to the Associated Press Television Network on Tuesday.
“There are more hopes associated with Trump with regards to the lifting of sanctions; maybe the environment (between the U.S. and Russia) will change,” Vasyukhin told the network about his reason for creating the coins.
Bear in mind that Trump has shown unprecedented love towards Putin and Russia and, in a recent interview on Monday, Trump said that he would be pulling back on some U.S. sanctions against Russia.
Vasyukhin, told the AP that the coins will sell for thousands of dollars, and that his company would like to give the first coin to the president-elect himself. His company apparently has asked Russian diplomats and business partners to help arrange the presentation.
The company has also made a coin commemorating Putin in honor of the annexation of Crimea. The Ukraine’s prime minister at the time, called it, “a robbery on an international scale.”
