Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards chatted with BuzzFeed News about the Republicans’ attempt to repeal and replace Obamacare on Friday. She emphasized that many “women will lose their lives over this bill,” and added, it’s the “most anti-woman bill that I have ever seen.”
During the 2016 presidential campaign Ivanka was trotted out as the face of Trump’s child care and maternity leave plan — promising six weeks of paid maternity leave.
The unpopular replacement bill doesn’t require insurance companies to cover prenatal care or maternity leave. Richards blasted Ivanka Trump for her silence on this issue and her refusal to stand up for women.
Richards specifically noted Ivanka’s “deafening silence,” and said, “Many senators from both parties are really disturbed by what they’re seeing in terms of taking away basic access to health care, making more people uninsured, and definitely taking away things like maternity benefits for women.”
The Planned Parenthood CEO went on to say that “Any woman who votes for this bill is betraying every woman in America.”
“It’s time for Ivanka to…stand for women,” Richards told BuzzFeed.
