Town Hall Erupts In Boos As GOP Senator Defends DeVos Confirmation

Republicans who are brave enough to hold town halls are not exactly receiving warm receptions.

Last Friday, Senator Joni Ernst from Iowa was greeted by an eruption of boos from angry constituents when she defended Michigan billionaire Betsy DeVos’ confirmation as Secretary of Education.

A constituent addressed Ernst:  “I am an educator and I was appalled at the nomination of Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education.

“I know that several thousand other Iowans also felt the same way as myself — and voiced that through phone calls and emails. So my question to you is why did you not listen to your constituents about that vote?”

Ernst, who voted for DeVos, insisted she was “carefully vetted.” Before she could finish the sentence, “I support all types of education,” the town hall attendees let out a loud chorus of boos.

On a personal note – a great big thank you to every voter who shows up to the town halls across the nation. You’re making a difference!
