Trump Is So Afraid Of Climate Data, He’s Planning Deep Cuts To Weather Satellites

Trump’s budget agenda is a national threat to public health and safety.

If you want to know when the next hurricane or other severe weather event is coming, Trump is hoping to make that a lot harder. In an effort to block scientific data on climate change, the Swamp Leader in the White House is planning deep budget cuts to NOAA that will also ‘blind’ weather satellites.

The New York Daily News reports,

NOAA’s Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research would lose $126 million, or 26%.

Jane Lubchenco, NOAA administrator under President Obama, said 90% of the information for weather forecasts comes from satellites.

Cutting NOAA’s satellite budget will compromise NOAA’s mission of keeping Americans safe from extreme weather and providing forecasts that allow businesses and citizens to make smart plans,” she told The Post.

The cuts Trump wants would not only endanger the lives of millions of Americans; the job losses would be significant as well.

According to the Washington Post,

David Titley, a professor of meteorology at Pennsylvania State University said, “These cuts will impact good private-sector jobs in the U.S. The loss of capability will make America weaker both in space and on the sea — a strange place to be for an administration that campaigned to ‘make America great again.’

Deep cuts to multiple government agencies are allegedly for funding a $54 billion increase in defense spending, according to the LA Times. This is despite the fact that the United States already spends more on the military than any other nation on earth.

Based on Trump’s budget proposals, it appears that his vision of America is one of weakness when it comes to public health and safety. Financially neutering NOAA and the Environmental Protection Agency will expose more people to poisoned drinking water, limit access to severe weather information, and eliminate thousands of jobs.

KCBS reports,

The Trump administration would slash programs aimed at slowing climate change and improving water safety and air quality, while eliminating thousands of jobs, according to a draft of the Environmental Protection Agency budget proposal obtained by The Associated Press.

It’s hard to imagine that the people who elected this man are aware of just how much he plans to harm them.

Groups like Indivisible are organizing a nationwide resistance against the Trump agenda, and it is making a difference. But Americans must remain vigilant. According to Salon,

Calling your own members of Congress is one of the key strategies laid out in the Indivisible Guide. It helpfully reminds us that their primary concern is getting re-elected.

Americans simply can’t afford to do nothing if they want to stop Trump, Bannon, and Miller from the ‘deconstruction’ of the United States government. From healthcare, to clean water, to weather satellite information, millions of lives literally depend on fighting the insanity that is threatening all of us.
