Mitch McConnell, Scott Walker Up To Their Eyeballs In Pro-Putin SuperPAC Money

Financial disclosure forms show Russian influence goes further than the White House.

Financial disclosure forms have revealed that Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell, and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, both Republicans, have Super PACs that took a combined $3 million from a pro-Putin Ukrainian businessman during the 2016 election season.

While following the money trail is not always enough to prove criminal activity, it is a strong indicator of attempts to influence lawmakers and corrupt the political process.

In the case of the Trump-Russia probe into possible collusion by Vladimir Putin to put an inept reality TV star in the White House, the money trail could explain why so many Republicans have been turning a blind eye to Trump’s questionable ethics violations.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who doesn’t exactly have a sterling reputation for honesty, took $1 million from pro-Putin interests through his Super PAC.

The Twitter reactions to this problematic information tend to support suspicions of corruption from pro-Putin forces.

At a House Intelligence Committee hearing in March, FBI director James Comey confirmed that there has been an ongoing investigation into the Trump campaign since July 2016. The probe, according to Mr. Comey, is looking into Russian influence involving election hacking and possible criminal acts.

According to the Boston Globe, McConnell knew about the Russian hacking into the presidential election, and decided to do nothing about it. McConnell claimed the CIA and other intelligence sources were flawed.

In September, during a secret briefing for congressional leaders, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell voiced doubts about the veracity of the intelligence, according to officials present.

Piecing together the proven and unproven information on Russia’s influence on American elections seems to lead to more questions than solid answers. However, one thing is clear; when there is this much smoke, sooner or later it leads to a fire.
