Republican maverick John McCain admitted several weeks ago that Barack Obama was a better foreign policy leader than Trump.
Trump, with his total disregard for foreign policy diplomacy, is sending the United States to hell and back with both our enemies and our “friends.” By the time Trump gets through, it will be amazing if the United States has any friends left.
British daily newspaper The Guardian posted remarks by Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona back in June regarding Trump’s presidency – specifically in the global arena. The article was discussing Trump’s foreign policy, his actions and tone and how this was playing out in the global arena.
The Guardian detailed Trump’s harsh criticism of London Mayor Sadiq Khan in the wake of the tragic London Bridge terrorist attack in early June of this year, writing:
Trump’s public criticism of Khan, less than 24 hours after three knife-wielding attackers left eight people dead and dozens more wounded in London last week, drew rebukes from politicians across the political spectrum. Trump used the episode to defend his controversial travel ban on refugees and immigrants from several Muslim-majority countries, before turning his Twitter fusillades on Khan, the first Muslim mayor of a major western European city.
Asked by The Guardian what message he thought Trump had sent to the U.K. in the wake of that criticism, McCain answered that America “doesn’t want to lead.”
Asked in a follow-up question what the rest of the world thought of Trump, McCain responded that: “They are not sure of American leadership, whether it be in Siberia or whether it be in Antarctica.”
Let’s get real. Has there ever been a politician, regardless if they were Democrat or Republican, congress, senate, or President who didn’t put America first? Trump may be talking America First, but like my mother always said, “actions speak louder than words.” Losing your friends and gaining more enemies is symptomatic that something is wrong. Even Russia is kicking the U.S. Diplomats out. Earth to Trump, because he certainly is on another planet.
