When Republican Rep. Trent Franks tweeted a false claim, Dr. Daniel Grossman decided to school him on a little something the rest of us call “facts.”

Doctors are using social media to take Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ), junk-science peddler and misogynistic provocateur, to task over his recent proposed anti-choice bill, H.R.36, titled, The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. The bill makes sweeping changes to federal abortion law and, in large part, attempts to nullify a woman’s Constitutional right to a necessary and safe medical procedure.

H.R.36, which is predicated entirely on a single, amateuristic site called doctorsonfetalpain.com, attempts to make abortion illegal after 20 weeks. The bill passed the House Oct. 3rd. Noted healthcare adversary, Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC), has already taken to his twitter page this week to promote it.

Once again, we have rich, old, white, “small government” Republicans, attempting to infringe on women’s rights by regulating the hell out of their bodies and lives. This bill, which has already been introduced and failed, four times now, is so dangerous and threatening to women’s health, doctors have addressed Rep. Franks in an attempt to provide with him the education he so desperately needs.

Dr. Daniel Grossman, MD., Director of Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH), abortion provider and clinical and public health researcher, called out the extreme right-wing representative and his deplorable bill on twitter. Dr. Grossman, who is also a professor and self-described “data nerd,” embarked on a glorious tweet thread, below, that doubles as a resource-rich, treasure trove of factual information regarding women’s health.

Meanwhile, Dr. Jen Gunter MD., and author of the book, The Preemie Primer, addressed Rep. Franks and his bill via an impassioned and pointed vlog.

Dr. Gunter informs Rep. Franks that if this bill were to become law, she, along with abortion providers across the country, are going to need his phone number so they can receive guidance from the representative on how to treat patients facing life-threatening pregnancies. According to Dr. Gunter, this misguided bill, essentially places politicians between patients and their doctors.

The good news? Trent Franks is up for reelection in 2018. Please consider donating to his challenger, Brianna Westbrook, a progressive and talented women’s rights advocate.
