Enraged, People Are Already Planning To Take To the Streets With 400+ Nationwide Protests Already Scheduled If Trump Fires Mueller

No One Is Above The Law

MoveOn director Ben Wikler has alerted his Twitter followers that if Donald Trump moves to get Special Counsel Robert Mueller fired, over 400 nationwide protests are scheduled.

Wikler included a link, “Nobody is Above The Law – Mueller Firing Rapid Response,” which provides information for concerned citizens who are interested in joining or creating an event.

From the site:

Donald Trump is publicly considering firing special counsel Robert Mueller, the person leading the Department of Justice investigation of possible illegal actions by Donald Trump and members of his presidential campaign, and the efforts to conceal those activities.

This would be a constitutional crisis for our country. It would demand an immediate and unequivocal response to show that we will not tolerate abuse of power from Donald Trump.

The site offers various options depending on the timing of a possible Mueller firing:

If Mueller is fired BEFORE 2 P.M. local time —>  events will begin at 5 P.M. local time.

If Mueller is fired AFTER 2 P.M. local time —> events will begin at noon local time the following day.

This is the general plan—please confirm details on your event page, as individual hosts may tailor their events to their local plan.

Last week KQED News, a service of National Public Radio providing in-depth regional and state coverage for Northern California, reported that U.S. Rep. Jackie Speier (D-San Mateo), the second-ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, told their newsroom that:

[S]he believes Republicans are trying to shut down the House Intelligence Committee’s probe into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 elections. Speier also said, “The rumor on the Hill when I left yesterday was that the president was going to make a significant speech at the end of next week. And on Dec. 22nd, when we are out of D.C., he was going to fire Robert Mueller.”

And on Friday, fellow California Democrat Rep Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, tweeted similar concerns:

As KQED News reported in a subsequent article, “Schiff, who also sits on the House Intelligence Committee, says that no witnesses have been scheduled after next Friday, and that dozens of outstanding witnesses have not been contacted. He tweeted that there will be interviews next week, but they will be held out of state while important votes will be keeping members of Congress in Washington D.C.”
