After the news broke that Trump’s former National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn, struck a plea deal with Special Counsel Robert Mueller for lying to FBI investigators, former US attorney, Michael Moore, explained to CNN what that means for Trump — and it’s the news isn’t good.
Moore appeared on CNN and broke down what will happen next; and the forecast was gloomy for Trump and his inner circle. He explained that the pattern of Mueller’s choice to start with low-level players like George Papadopoulos and working his way up the chain to Mike Flynn is a classic approach when conducting investigations of this magnitude.
“This is classic federal prosecutor style, and that’s what we would expect from Bob Mueller, and I think that’s what’s got the White House probably scared to death,” Moore said. “This is not unlike a tube of toothpaste — you squeeze it at the bottom, and the more you squeeze the more evidence comes out at one end. That’s what’s happening here as we continue to see Bob Mueller squeezing people in Trump’s inner circle.”
Additionally, Moore believes Flynn’s admission of lying to FBI investigators connects to the president’s decision to fire former FBI Director James Comey – and that adds more weight to the investigation on whether Trump obstructed Justice.
“That’s not fake anymore, it’s a real investigation,” Moore told CNN.
Interesting side note: James Comey seemed to be trolling Trump today by tweeting this little nugget:
