NRA Ad Brings Obama Children Into Gun Debate: The White House Fires Back

NRA-Attacks-Obamas-ChildrenThe National Rifle Association has posted a new video on its website calling President Obama “an elitist hypocrite” for having Secret Service protection on his daughters while dismissing the NRA’s suggestion to put armed guards in schools.

“Are the president’s kids more important than yours? Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their school?” the narrator asks in the video.

In reading the attached text to the NRA’s video, it would appear that this is merely the first of a series of attack ads planned:

President Obama’s skepticism over NRA’s proposal to put armed security in schools ― when he and his friends already send their children to schools with armed guards ― is just the latest example of elitist hypocrisy.  The NRA plans to Stand and Fight ― will you stand with us? Stay tuned as more videos will be released soon.

The White House fired back on Wednesday stating:  “Most Americans agree that a president’s children should not be used as pawns in a political fight,” said the president’s press secretary Jay Carney. “But to go so far as to make the safety of the president’s children the subject of an attack ad is repugnant and cowardly.”
