Meteorologist Kristi Gordon of British Columbia’s Global News network publicly admonished the hateful bullies who sent her nasty letters and emails regarding her appearance.
Gordon read some of the messages on the air:
“Nowhere on North America TV have we seen a weather reader so gross as you.” Gordon noted this troll wrote to her anonymously and didn’t leave their name or return address. “Your front-end looks like the Hindenburg and your rear-end looks like a brick [expletive] house.”
The troll went on to say they would no longer watch the Global News program because of Gordon’s appearance. Co-anchor Squire Barnes replied, “You know what? Good.”
Squire also noticed the trolls seem to have a difficult time with spelling and cited Taylor Swift’s lyric “Haters gonna hate.”
Another asshole viewer wrote:
“Buy some decent clothes and have more respect for your unborn child. You’re not the first pregnant woman. Looser tops would look much more professional.”
What’s worse, Gordon said this kind of hate mail was expected because the same thing happened to her the last time she was pregnant. She said the bigger she got, the more the hate mail poured in. She admits that even though she laughs at her critics, the hurtful comments affected her.
“Despite thinking these guys are crazy, or having all these rational thoughts about it, it’s amazing when you say something mean about someone, it still affects them,” said Gordon.
Her co-anchors Barnes and Robin Stickley showed viewers their support for Gordon by crumpling up the letters and flicking them off the news desk.
