Ben Carson Ramps Up The Crazy – New Gaffe About The Constitution

GOP 2016 hopeful Ben Carson makes another gaffe.

Oh Ben, just stop. Please. Stop.

Floundering presidential candidate Ben Carson’s plunge in the polls is only serving to increase the crazy that pours out of his mouth.  On Sunday’s C-SPAN “Road to the White House” series, the retired neurosurgeon said of all America’s Founding Fathers, he’s most moved by Thomas Jefferson – in part for the way he “tried to craft our Constitution.”

“But I’m particularly impressed with Thomas Jefferson, who seemed to have very deep insight into the way that people would react and tried to craft our Constitution in a way that it would control people’s national tendencies and control the natural growth of the government,” Carson said.

Whoops, Thomas Jefferson crafted the Declaration of Independence, not the United States Constitution.

What makes his gaffe more bizarre is that in his book, “A More Perfect Union,” Carson wrote Jefferson was “missing in action” during the birth of the Constitution as he served abroad as ambassador to France.

It leads one to believe Carson is reacting with panic to his plunge in the polls, and thinks if he just ramps up the crazy (like Trump), he can boost his numbers.

This latest blunder follows last week’s string of gaffes: he likened Syrian refugees to “rabid dogs,” tweeted out a botched map of the United States, and was criticized by advisers on his own campaign for his lack of knowledge on foreign policy.

Carson also attempted to re-write American history a few weeks ago by incorrectly posting on Facebook that “every signer of the Declaration of Independence had no elected office experience.” Politifact corrected Carson, noting that about half of the signers had held office. Carson later edited his Facebook post to read the signers had no “federal” elected office experience. Hello Ben? At that time there was no federal government.
While it’s tempting to bask in the glee of his downfall, the sad fact is the GOP has an abundance of crazy to take his place.
