Betty Bowers Explains Abortion

Betty Bowers is a fictional character self-described as “America’s Best Christian”.

Played by commedienne Deven Green, she operates several satirical and fictitious Christian ministries such as “Baptists Are Saving Homosexuals” (B.A.S.H.) and “Bringing Integrity to Christian Homemakers” (B.I.T.C.H.).

In this episode Betty “takes a moment out of her busybody day, to settle once and for all America’s most contentious subject: abortion.

  1. This barrage of hostility against God is misplaced. God is not the problem. The way the GOP chooses to define God is the problem. Jesus said to love thy neighbor and to care for the poor. The GOP is unwilling to respect the teachings of Jesus. Their allegations that they are “God’s” party are blasphemous. God has never endorsed the GOP. In fact, the Roman Catholic bishops as well as groups of nuns openly protested the hateful plans of the GOP to slash crucial social programs that many vulnerable citizens are dependent upon for their survival. The Mormons and the Protestants didn’t say a word to the GOP in defense of the teachings of Jesus. After that the media started printing hateful stories about the Catholic Church to remind people that many years ago a few priests molested some boys. They printed a photo of the Pope saying mass but from the camera angle made him look like a lecherous old man and they cut his hands out of the photo. They did this on purpose for retaliation against the Church for defending the teachings of Jesus. They wanted people to see the Church in a bad light so they would not listen to them. The Obama administration does not encourage abortion. Their concern is to let people who are going to go get an abortion anyway get one from a clean and competent medical facility. Before abortion clinics women who wanted an abortion went to butchers. These guys said they were doctors but they killed many of the women who came to them and maimed others for life so they couldn’t have any kids. They operated in filthy facilities. I am pro-life and opposed to abortion except in medically necessary circumstances. Pro-life means to protect the lives of unborn children and to care for the welfare of all people from the birth to the grave, and to care for all the life on this earth including the animals and the planet itself. The GOP hate-mongers are not pro-life. They don’t know what life is. They think everything is about money and they value people by how much money they make. The GOP is not only not God’s party but they are spiritually dead.

How can one have hostility against a fictional character?

      1. I don’t have hostility toward her. I don’t know why you projected hostility into my response. The “fictional character” is not speaking on her own. She was created by others to deliver their message. Their message sounds like they are blaming God for the GOP’s warped interpretations of the Bible. I am saying that the problem is the GOP’s warped interpretations of the Bible. I believe it is important for people to understand that the problem is the GOP, not God, because there is something we can do about the GOP. We can vote them all out of Congress in November, as many as we can out of the Senate, and re-elect President Obama. We can’t revise and rewrite the Bible.

I think they meant the fictional main character of the old and new testaments…
