A photographer pitched a question to Joan Rivers this weekend at a book signing for “Diary of A Mad Diva, shortly after she had officiated a same-sex wedding.
Asked whether she thought the United States would see a gay or a woman as president first, Rivers had a rather interesting response, saying that we already have a gay president, adding that Michelle Obama is transgender.
PHOTOGRAPHER: Hey, do you think the country will see the first, the United States will see the first gay president or the first woman president?
RIVERS: We already have it with Obama. So let’s just calm down. You know Michelle is a trans.
PHOTOGRAPHER: I’m sorry. She’s a what?
RIVERS: Transgender. We all knew it.
PHOTOGRAPHER: Oh my gosh.
