Texas #FreeSpeechRally Fail: The ‘Sea Of American Flags And Patriots’ That Wasn’t

Muslim leaders in Texas held a “Stand with the Prophet” rally over the weekend to “combat Islamophobia” and “defend [the] Prophet Muhammad, his person, and his message.” The rally billed itself as a fundraiser to build a center dedicated to teaching Muslims how to combat negative depictions of their faith according to the event website.

NBC-DFW reported that a Muslim woman in attendance at the rally stated that “they want people to see that we are kind, peaceful people. We’re not here to fight, we’re not here to argue. We’re just here to show that we’re Americans too.”

However as one might expect, conservatives had a complete meltdown over the idea and staged their own counter-protest, #FreeSpeechRally, led by Pamela Geller, author of “Stop the Islamazation of America.

Tea Party News Network (TPNN) reported, Geller said that Saturday’s rally “will stand for the freedom of speech against all attempts, violent and stealthy, to impose Islamic blasphemy laws on Americans and stifle criticism of Muhammad and Islam.”

TPNN went on to report that “Organizers of the ‘Stand with the Prophet [Muhammad]’ conference taking place in Garland, Texas this weekend might be re-thinking the wisdom of holding such an event in Texas,” that “Muslims in attendance were met with reportedly thousands of protestors holding a #FreeSpeechRally.”

The Young Conservatives website contradicted that figure reporting that “In true Texan fashion, hundreds of patriotic counter protestors showed up, spreading the word of their own rally on social media using the hashtag #FreeSpeechRally.”

The Christian Post agreed with Young Conservatives, reporting on “the hundreds of protesters who traveled near and far to counter what they see as encroaching Islamization in Europe, Canada and the United States.”

There were plenty of tweets regarding the counter-protest, such as this one claiming over 2500 were in attendance accompanied by 200 bikers.

However, the video she attached seems to tell a different story – as do the tweets below.

You be the judge. Was the anti-Muslim #FreeSpeechRally an embarrassment For Texas conservatives? At least for the ones claiming hundreds if not thousands were in attendance?

To begin, how about that “sea of American flags & patriots” lining the streets? (Odd, I can only see about half a dozen flags and less than a dozen patriots.)

Here’s another view of the hundreds, if not thousands of Texas patriots in action:

And don’t forget about those 200 biker patriots in attendance:
