Watch as Trump himself presents an airtight case for his immediate resignation.
Monday may very well have been the worst day of Trump’s administration so far.
As NBC News reports, FBI Director James Comey’s disclosures before the House Intelligence Committee “leave Trump alone on an island of conspiracy theories.”
Worse yet is the explosive revelation, confirmed by Comey, that “the FBI was investigating potential links between the Trump campaign and Russian hacking in the 2016 election.”
Rewinding to the 6th of November 2016, Trump explained in detail exactly why he should resign in light of this public admission by Comey.
Speaking at the first of five rallies scheduled that day, Trump railed against Democratic rival Hillary Clinton during a campaign rally in Sioux City, Iowa. At the time, the FBI was reviewing some additional emails they had found on a staffer’s laptop.
Trump told the crowd that
There’s little doubt that FBI Director Comey and the great special agents within the FBI will be able to collect more than enough evidence to garner indictments against Hillary Clinton and her inner circle despite her effort to disparage and discredit the FBI.
If she were to win, it would create an unprecedented constitutional crisis. In that situation we could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and ultimately a criminal trial.
Continuing, he told the crowd that the criminal investigations into Clinton would make it impossible for her to govern:
We need a government that can go to work on day one for the American people. That will be impossible with Hillary Clinton, the prime suspect in a far-reaching criminal investigation. Her current scandals and controversies will continue throughout her presidency and will make it virtually impossible for her to govern.
The Trump campaign posted a press release on their website the day before stating the same thing – that it would be “virtually impossible” for Clinton to “govern” while she remained under investigation.
Clinton was cleared of those charges later that same day in letter Director Comey sent to Congressional leaders.

As CNN reports, “Trump assailed the FBI’s handling of the matter, though he did not directly address Comey’s announcement at a rally in Sterling Heights, Michigan” that same day.
“You can’t review 650,000 new emails in eight days. You can’t do it, folks,” Trump said. “Hillary Clinton is guilty. She knows it, the FBI knows it, the people know it, and now it’s up to the American people to deliver justice at the ballot box on November 8.”
You can watch Trump speaking earlier that same day in Sioux City, laying out the case for his immediate resignation in light of the far-reaching FBI investigation into his campaign.
