The 113th Congress will be more representative of the United States when it comes to representation that at any time in the history of the United States. Women alone have a total of 77 seats in the House of Representatives and 20 in the senate.
Yet on Tuesday, House Speaker John Boehner announced that of the 19 new House committee chairs, all 19 are white men. On top of that, the two lesser remaining committees with yet unnamed chairs to not have any women or minorities serving on them, so it seems doubtful that any women or minorities will be represented as committee chairs.
