A corrupt chief of police in Bell City, California, was fired for corruption after it was learned he was drawing an annual salary of $457,000 which is more than the police chiefs of Los Angeles, Chicago and New York make. This is particularly noteworthy considering Bell City has a population less than 36,000 and a police force of only about 30 officers.
The corruption was city wide with the city manager pulling in a salary of over $1 million dollars and 8 city leaders facing trial for criminal corruption.
