The War between the 1st and 2nd Amendments over Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan Deportation Pits 1st Amendment Against 2nd

The recent push by gun-activists to deport Piers Morgan for being “engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment” is locking the First and Second Amendments in a fierce national debate.

On December 21, a gun-rights activist out of Austin, Texas, assused Morgan of undermining the Bill of Rights and the rights of American citizens and created a petition on the White House website demanding  his deportation.

So far, the petition to deport British television host Morgan because of his very vocal position on gun control has collected over 80,000 signatures so far on the White House website, which far exceeds the required threshold of 25,000 that triggers a response from the government.

As one might expect, Morgan quickly responded raising the question: “is my opinion no protected under 1st Amendment right?”
