“Guns don’t kill people. Video games, the media and Obama’s budget kill people,” NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre stated during a Dec. 21 press conference where he addressed the tragedy at Sandy Hook. “There exists in this country, sadly, a callous, corrupt and corrupting shadow industry that sells and stows violence against its own people, through vicious, violent video games with names like ‘Bulletstorm,’ ‘Grand Theft Auto,’ ‘Mortal Kombat’ and ‘Splatterhouse.’”Fast forward a few weeks until this Sunday when the NRA released a new shooting game aimed at children fours years of age and older.
The new app, available in the iTunes store, was released Sunday by the NRA. Entitled NRA: Practice Range, the app features a 3D shooting range offering users simulated target practice.

As bad as it looks
by Ryan GreenRemember when the NRA was blaming the game industry for fostering violence in America? They now want to cut out the middle man and now have their shadowy conspiracy all to themselves.
In spite of that, the NRA has published a free to play iOS game that, frankly, adds nothing to our lives except irony. It controls terribly, is visually appalling, and is filled with micro transactions to get every cent out of the unwitting public. This game is disgusting on so many levels but it might not be as obvious on the surface. Supporting this game is to support the NRA, which frankly, should be embarrassed with this unabashed cash grab.
This is sad
by Another programmerAs a game developer I am completely sad at this. I really don’t even know where to start. Maybe the fact that this is a game for kids 4 and up, and YOU HAVE TO SHOOT THINGS!
Last week, after a meeting with Vice President Joe Biden’s gun reform task force, the NRA slammed the White House.
“It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation’s most pressing problems,” the NRA said in a statement. “We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen.”
