President Obama named Secret Service agent Julia Pierson today as the director of that agency, making her the agency’s first female to assume that role.
The agency has come under fire recently for a prostitution scandal that happened during preparations for the President’s trip to Colombia last year. Pierson will be taking over from Mark Sullivan, who announced his retirement amid intense criticism over that scandal.
