NRA Task Force Recommends Arming Teachers And Loosening Gun Laws (VIDEO)

NRA-Task-Force-Arm-TeachersAn NRA backed task on school safety released a 225-page report which included recommendations to arm school personnel and reduce gun law restrictions.

Former Republican Representative Asa Hutchinson, the director of the National School Shield Program, funded by the National Rifle Association, unveiled the panel’s recommendations under the protection of armed private security guards at the National Press Club in Washington on Tuesday.

According to Hutchinson:

“Teachers should teach, but if there is a personnel that has good experience, that has an interest in it and is willing to go through this training … then that is an appropriate resource that a school should be able to utilize.”

However, it is interesting to note that later Tuesday evening, in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Hutchinson noted that he has no objections to expanding background checks.  [Note You can see that clip here.]

The American Federation of Teachers issued a scathing statement criticizing the task force, calling the report “a cruel hoax that will fail to keep our children and schools safe,” and noting that the findings “are simply designed to assist gun manufacturers flood the nation and our schools with more guns.”
