Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is planning to shut 49 public schools to save money.
Heralded as the future mayor of Chicago in the year 2025, 9-year-old Asean Johnson, whose school would be closed, stood up to the mayor, is sending him a message about who he’s really hurting when closing down schools when he fired up a crowd of hundreds protesting the closings on Monday:
“You should be investing in these schools, not closing them. You should be supporting these schools, not closing them…We shall not be moved today. We’re going to City Hall…We are not toys. We are not going down without a fight.”
