No decision has been made as to whether to reopen Sandy Hook Elementary or move it to another location after a panel met to find a resolution to the matter.
A task force had narrowed the possible options down to either tearing the building down and rebuilding down the street or to renovate or rebuild the existing school. However, prior to the public meeting on the matter Friday night, a group of Sandy Hook teachers spoke privately to task force members, telling them that they never wanted to set foot in the building again. The teachers were seen leaving that closed-door meeting in tears and declined to make any statements except to note that the conversation had been “difficult.”
The panel decided at the Friday meeting to postpone making an immediate decision and instead look at other possible options.
